Week 38, Entry 2
Today was a rather mixed experience. I stayed up until around 5am last night, because I was busy finishing Nona the Ninth. I wanted to figure out what happened at the end in one go, rather than picking it up later. The primary reason for this, of course, is that I put it down last time, and didn't pick it up again until it was time to return it. But now I am all caught up in time for Escapade next month!
I was utterly exhausted for most of today, though I couldn't say why, exactly. I even cancelled my meeting with my Work Service Coordinator, and just lay in bed for about two hours. After that, I got dressed and applied for three jobs. These jobs were:
1) Library Page
2) Library Assistant
3) City Archivist Aide
Hopefully, I'll hear back from them soon. I also looked into the water district here, and in the town next to us, but it needs just a little bit more experience on my part than I currently have. You have to have a driver's license for at least 2 years, and I'm going to be taking my test at the end of the month.
TODAY WAS MY DAD'S LAST DAY AT WORK!
We were all quite worked up here at home, although nobody was really sure how to word it. Olivia was steaming everything she could get her hands on, Mom was cleaning all the floors downstairs, and since I had no space to clean where I'd planned to, I sat down to copy out some things by hand. I thought that maybe we should go out for dinner, since we're all going to be tired by the end of the day, and it's a day we ought to celebrate.
So Mom and I were looking at places that would work out well for us to go out to. But prices have increased since Mom last went out to eat, and she was shocked at how expensive eating at a decent, mid-tier restaurant in this area is. A chicken banh mi and a side of 2 spring rolls last month put me back about $25. And that's not helped by tips now starting at 18% downtown. We ended up having a very basic dinner of tuna fish quesedillas and apple, and Papa says that we will go out to eat soon. Him and I are hopefully going to go to Harry's, which is a very nice restaurant that's themed around being like an Old West saloon.
