Week 16, Entry 1
Sep. 5th, 2022 06:44 pmI nearly broke today. I didn't, though, that's what's important.
It was 112 F yesterday, and it was over 90 F today. It's still absolutely sweltering, and Mom had taken me to Target to pick up my sister. Mom said she was coming around the parking lot and back to pick us up, but when I came out of Target, she was nowhere to be seen. My sister asked where she was, and I snapped that I didn't know.
It was so painfully hot that I found myself starting to not feel at all. Just as though my body had given up, and sensation was something I was beyond. It didn't help that Mom was angry we hadn't gone...waited...frankly, I couldn't hear very well at all by then. I stayed calm, I didn't hurt anyone, and I kept my mind well enough to know not to say anything, just hold still and say nothing until I could say something nice.
We got home all right. I told Mom that I needed to take a cold shower to help me calm down, and she agreed. It did clean me off and calm me down, which I was happy to take in. As I am writing this, it has finally gotten cool enough that I can open the bedroom window and breathe a little easier, so I will say that there's improvements taking place around me.
I'm headed out of this state as soon as I can, though.
