Week 31, Entry 5

It is cold and dark. Not cold in my external body, exactly, but inside, I am cold. I sense the larger cold, and the cold-drake that comes with it. At this point, I feel as though I am past morals, there is only the right thing to do. Intellectually, I know that this is because my stomach is empty and I am focused on the cold and the dark of Winter Solstice, but at the same time, it is a tempting thing, to have all the answers you would ever know.

Journaling has been highly useful this year. It has been informative, useful to track both emotional and physical data, as well as helpful to examine what mental states I am in, what reasoning I am using.

With that in mind, I feel human enough to head downstairs for my Solstice celebration food.

My all-time favorite Christmas movie is actually Santa Claus (1959). It works in this wonderfully magical, straight-faced way, where you don't feel talked down to at all. It is a world that works on its own logic, where Santa and Merlin and Hephaestus all work together for the good of mankind. I also appreciate that the Devil appears not in temptations of vague power, but in the small, painful moments that wear you away inside.
