Week 35, Entry 2

goatgodschildKevin was ill, so I ended up not meeting with him today.
I went to the Wake Center with my parents, instead.
I had a lot of fun! There was a lot of good information for future things I can do, more classes and community events. There was a lot of good free stuff, too. I got reflective shoelaces for myself and Olivia, and Papa got a ream of paper and two notebooks. There were other things that I got, too. Information on classes, a motion-activated light, a med tray, and a little paper to fill out your meds and their amounts ahead of time.
There was also world dancing, free to join as you wished. One dance was a tribute to David Crosby, and then the musical choices just ran to "what has a beat and has been released in the past 70 years?". Elvis, Meghan Trainor, Michael Jackson, Sade, something Bro Country, it was all there. I tried to dance, but I had 1.5 songs in me before my hip joints started to hurt too much to continue. I sat down for a bit, then walked back around the tables again at the gentle meander that is my body's best movement right now.
I have now found a second story that I've been searching for, for years. It's "San Diego Lightfoot Sue", by Tom Reamy, which was one of the first stories I ever read about the day to day life of a gay man who was my age at the time (fifteen-ish). That makes 5 or so long-sought volumes found by me this month!
1) American Animals (have been looking for this since I was about 5)
2) "San Diego Lightfoot Sue" (have been looking for this since about 2017)
3) Children Everywhere
4) The Green Kingdom
5) Michael Foreman's World of Fairy Tales
6) Horses of Myth
7) More poetry by Roy Campbell, author of "The Place Where The Elephants Die". This month was when I even found out his name, because he was uncredited in the book I read that poem in!
